Research and Policy Lead

Electricity Maps is organising the world’s electricity data to drive the transition towards a truly decarbonised electricity system. We’re hiring a Research and Policy lead to spearhead the transformation of carbon accounting standards, thereby accelerating the transition to a low-carbon energy system.

About the role

Your mission at Electricity Maps will be to lead our interaction with key international stakeholders in order to advocate for more granular and meaningful measurement of electricity emissions, ultimately redefining the reference for the granular accounting of carbon emissions. Topics include 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy, Emissionality, Marginal and Average emissions as well as scope 2 and scope 3 accounting methodologies.

The geographical focus is Europe and USA, but the position is based in Copenhagen.

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Support our customers and internal team by being the domain expert on energy markets, greenhouse gas accounting standards and industry trends.
  • Lead and collaborate with industry experts on data-focused research seeking to understand how data should be used the most effectively to drive grid decarbonisation.
  • Advocate broadly about the correct use of granular data as an instrument to effectively decarbonise the grid.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a diverse set of international strategic stakeholders (such as standardisation bodies, trade unions, sector associations, and climate ministries as well as our key customers).
  • Identify, monitor and analyze relevant policy trends, legislative proposals, relevant news and developments in order to shape our strategy.
  • Do everything else you find necessary to make carbon disclosure as meaningful as possible.
